Orbit Beers are hiring a Head Brewer – position filled

Founded in 2014, Orbit Beers are a 10-barrel, well-respected,award-winning brewery, based in South London. Our focus is on brewing classic, high-quality European style beers, alongside an experimental white label range.We package into keg and bottle on site.

We are approaching a period of expansion and are now looking for a qualified, passionate and creative Head Brewer to join our amazing team. You will oversee all aspects of brewing, production, record keeping & packaging.

This is a full-time position and weekend or evening work may sometimes be required.

The Person:

  • At least three years’ experience in commercial brewing
  • Formal brewing education/qualifications essential
  • Highly organized, with a huge passion for beer
  • Experiencein packaging carbonated beer into bottle and keg*
  • Experience & knowledge of brewing various European beer styles
  • Ability to manage and develop our barrel-ageing program
  • Previous experience managing a small brew team
  • Self-motivated, positive outlook and able to communicate effectively with the sales team
  • Strong attention to detail, high standards anddriven to achieve
  • Clean driving license / fork truck license desirable

*Note: We will shortly be transitioning to using an automatic, counter-pressure filling system for bottling. This transition will be a key project after joining.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the whole brewing schedule
  • Full responsibility for beer quality, consistency& safety
  • Continuous improvement of our core range of beers
  • Evolve our White Label series of creative beer styles
  • Efficient management of live yeast supplies
  • Maintain accurate records& drive quality standards
  • Maintain the brewery environment to high standards
  • Responsible for nurturing and guiding the Assistant Brewer
  • All aspects of packaging into bottle and keg
  • Manage raw and packaged stock levels to meet demand
  • Manage operations against all relevant quality guidelines
  • Maintain a high level of Health & Safety procedures
  • Occasionally represent Orbit Beers at trade shows, events & festivals

Salary depends on level of experience, but will be fully competitive, along with a pension scheme &28 days holiday including bank holidays
