A hands-on Packaging Assistant is sought to support the safe, efficient and accurate packaging of beer across cans, bottles and kegs. This role is ideal for someone practical, reliable and detail-oriented who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and wants to build a long-term career in brewing operations.

The role
Working closely with the Head of Production & Packaging Supervisor alongside the wider production team, the Packaging Assistant helps keep packaging runs moving smoothly from set-up through to finished goods. The role includes line support, kegging, cleaning, pack-out, material handling and basic quality checks, with a strong focus on safety, hygiene and consistency.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the set-up, operation and shut-down of canning, bottling and kegging runs.
  • Support line changeovers, CIP, pack-out, palletising and movement of finished goods.
  • Carry out keg washing, keg filling and safe handling of kegs and packaging materials.
  • Maintain high standards of cleaning, sanitation and housekeeping across the packaging area.
  • Perform basic quality checks including labels, fills, date codes and general pack integrity.
  • Report issues quickly, including equipment faults, damaged materials, leaks or out-of-spec product.
  • Support stock movement and organisation of packaging materials and finished goods.
  • Complete production records accurately, including packaging paperwork, batch traceability and quality checks.
  • Ensure compliance to our SALSA standard in all brewery operations.
  • Provide support to brewing, warehouse or cellar operations when packaging demand allows.
  • Follow all health, safety and hygiene procedures at all times.

What we are looking for

  • Strong work ethic and a dependable, positive attitude.
  • Practical and mechanically minded, with confidence using tools and equipment.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in doing things properly.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions accurately.
  • Comfortable working in a physical role, including lifting, moving stock and being on your feet for long periods.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a brewery production environment.


Desirable experience

  • Experience in a brewery, packaging, warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with cans, bottles or kegs.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning and hygiene standards in production settings.
  • Forklift experience or certification is helpful but not essential.
