Bohem Brewery Expands South with New Battersea Pub
Tottenham-based Bohem Brewery has crossed the river, opening its third London venue with the relaunch of The Queen’s Arms in Battersea. Following a substantial refurbishment, the pub is now pouring a mix of Bohem’s signature Czech-style lagers alongside cask ales from select independent London breweries.
Located on St Philip Street, SW8, The Queen’s Arms becomes the latest addition to Bohem’s growing managed estate, joining The Nicholas Nickleby in Finsbury Park and their original Tap Room in Bowes Park. In keeping with Bohem’s reputation for precise Czech brewing and service, the new venue has been equipped with 10 Lukr side-pour taps, fed directly from a cold room to ensure optimal dispense conditions.
The attention to detail continues behind the bar, where a traditional Czech chladicí vana (cooling bath) ensures glassware is perfectly chilled before serving. This meticulous approach maintains the brewery’s dedication to freshness and authenticity—especially important when showcasing their beers brewed using a double decoction mash and lagered for a minimum of six weeks.
Jakub Mikusinec, General Manager of both The Queen’s Arms and The Nicholas Nickleby, oversaw the project. Speaking about the transformation, he said:
We’re delighted to be bringing Bohem’s unique combination of authentic Czech beers served in a classic British pub setting to south London. The Queen’s Arms has had a chequered history in recent years and had been closed since 2022. The refurb was a daunting project at times, but it was important that, as with the Nicholas Nickleby, we kept it as a genuine London pub, rather than a Czech-style beer hall. The Czech twist comes from our beer dispense system, as well as from our beers themselves.
Beyond Bohem’s own range, the pub features a rotating guest cask line and a carefully curated selection of Czech wines and premium spirits. A small food offering complements the drinks list, making it an accessible new addition to the local beer scene.
We’re enjoying welcoming locals back to the Queen’s Arms, which has been much missed by the community,” said Mikusinec. “And we’re also pleased to be giving the South London craft beer community an opportunity to enjoy our beers, authentically brewed, stored and served in the Czech style, alongside great cask ales.
With this latest opening, Bohem continues to bridge cultures—bringing Czech brewing discipline into a firmly British pub setting, one pint at a time.
